Let’s be honest – we all have a lot going on. Between work, school, family, friends, church, managing a home, etc., it can get a bit overwhelming at times. We love using To Do Lists to help keep us on track in terms of what needs to be done, but what goes hand-in-hand with a to-do list are these Free Printable Hourly/Daily Planners, which help us figure out when we can get all of these things done!
There are many ways of scheduling your day. Here are just a few tips and ideas:
- Start with your commitments. Write in all your appointments, meetings, classes, or anything that requires you to be present or engaged at a specific time. Work around these commitments.
- Eat the frog. This might sound like a funny phrase, but it means to do the hardest thing on your list first so it doesn’t hang over your head all day. Identify your hardest/most important/least enjoyable task of the day and get it done first thing in the morning when you have the most energy and so you can breathe easier the rest of the day knowing it got done.
- Implement Time-Blocking. This method of time management requires you to assign specific periods of time during your day to work on specific tasks. You could color-code them to correlate with each of the proverbial “balls” we each have in the air, such as work, education, family, errands, specific projects or assignments we have, etc., so they’re easier to identify. Your time blocks may look different every day depending on the scope of the thing needing to be done and the timing of your aforementioned commitments.
- Schedule breaks. Just because you have a lot to do doesn’t mean you can’t take a short break now and again. Just try to schedule them around your “blocks” (a little bit of time before or after) so you don’t inadvertently spend more time than you anticipated scrolling your favorite social media platform. 😉
