December is a busy month, there can be no doubt. There are Christmas concerts, church gatherings, family get-togethers, holiday outings to see Christmas lights, in addition to traditions and to-do lists a mile long that we also need to make time for like decorating gingerbread houses, baking cookies for Santa, playing our favorite Christmas games while listening to our favorite Christmas songs, making waaay too many seasonal treats, watching Christmas movies and drinking hot cocoa, on top of shopping for and wrapping all the Christmas gifts for everyone while also preparing (sometimes several) special Christmas meals. (Deep breath!) It’s a lot of work! But all of it leads up to one big, highly anticipated day: Christmas Day! Which, of course, is so worth all of the effort. And the penultimate day, Christmas Eve, which is full of anticipation and excitement and last-minute checking-of-the-boxes is one of, if not our favorite, days in December. Christmas Eve is our last chance to fit in whatever we haven’t been able to yet and to get ready for Santa to arrive – this is the big night!
